Ludtke is a smaller, mobile defenseman at 5‑foot‑10 and 175 pounds. He recorded 17 points this season, all assists, leading Omaha in assists while skating on the top pairing on the left side.

Across four seasons with the Mavericks, the Elko, Minnesota native totaled 57 points in 126 games, finishing with six goals, 51 assists, and a plus‑6 rating. He also blocked 22 shots this past season.

Ludtke becomes the eighth player the Cyclones have added from either Canadian or United States college hockey. Four of those additions have come out of the NCHC over the past week: Max Helgeson, Max Smolinski, Kaidan Mbereko, and now Ludtke. Mbereko, a goaltender from Colorado College, also captained his team this past season.

Corresponding with the move, the Cyclones released defenseman Aaron Chiarot, who appeared in seven games for Cincinnati.
