ATLANTA, Georgia– On Wednesday afternoon, England came from behind to defeat DR Congo in an exciting World Cup match, thanks to a late brace from Harry Kane in the final 15 minutes.
DR Congo stunned the English side by opening the scoring in the first half and created several opportunities to extend its lead. For more than 75 minutes, the African team looked poised to produce one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, defending resolutely while its goalkeeper kept England’s powerful attack off the scoresheet.
England’s persistence finally paid off when captain Harry Kane took over the match. The veteran striker, who was a constant threat throughout the game, scored twice in the closing stages to complete the comeback and secure a 2-1 victory for the Three Lions.
