CINCINNATI, Ohio– On Friday night, the visiting Toledo Walleye defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2 at the Heritage Bank Center, outshooting Cincinnati 32-28 in a tightly contested matchup. Denis Smirnov scored two goals for Toledo, registering 3 points, while Brandon Hawkins netted the game-winner, his 24th goal of the season.
For the Cyclones, Sam Stevens opened the scoring with a power-play goal and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine added a late third-period tally to pull Cincinnati within one. In net, Carter Gylander stopped 26 shots to secure the win for the Walleye.
