The Cincinnati Cyclones were shut out 4-0 by the visiting Toledo Walleye on Friday night at Heritage Bank Center. Toledo goaltender Carter Gylander was lights out in the win, turning aside all 29 shots he faced to push the Walleye to 17-5-2-2 and keep them atop the Central Division. It was also their eighth win in a row.
The Cyclones dropped to 14-10-3-0 with the loss, holding fourth place in the division.
Toledo saw four different goal-scorers, getting goals from Colby Ambrosio, Denis Smirnov, Brandon Hawkins, and Jed Pietila.
Game Recap
Ambrosio, a former Miami University RedHawk, opened the scoring by tapping home a feed from Mitchell Lewandowski just after a Toledo power play expired, giving the Walleye an early 1-0 lead.

Minutes later, during a 5-on-3 advantage, a rebound kicked right to Smirnov, who sniped it past a diving Scarfone to make it 2-0.
Midway through the second period, Hawkins battled a loose puck across the goal line to extend the lead to 3-0. Cincinnati argued for goaltender interference, but no call came.
On their second power play of the frame, the Cyclones surrendered a shorthanded goal that essentially sealed the game. Pietila finished a 2-on-1 breakaway with a glove-side snipe to push the lead to 4-0 and was Toledo’s 11th shorty of the season.
Cincinnati netminder Kyle McClellan entered for the third period and stopped all six shots he faced.
Cincinnati went 0-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. The power play now sits at 23% on the season with 20 goals scored but has struggled of late.
The Cyclones and Walleye meet again on Saturday at 4:00 PM EST at Heritage Bank Center.
